Sunday 14th December – Christmas Match – Whitehouse Farm
We had 20 anglers turn up for this popular annual event, including some we haven’t seen since the Christmas match last year. The weather was dry, but a chilling wind probably played a part in putting the fish off as weights were generally low on both lakes. Well done to Nigel Johns, who won on Margaret’s Lake and overall, thanks to a near 10lb carp. The only carp caught during the match.

Sunday 30th November – Winter League Round #2 – George’s Lake
The number of entrants was down by two today, with one away on holiday and another unable to make it due to car problems, which allowed for pegs 2 and 16 to be left out. With a hard frost during the night, weights were expected to be low and so a carp or two would make a huge impact on the results. Alan Oram was the angler who managed to find 2 of them from peg 17, which made for a comfortable win.
Results:
1st – Alan Oram – Peg 17 – 27-04-0

Another full turnout for the fourth round of the Winter League, which was held on Georges Lake. Jason fished favoured peg 1 and latched onto some quality skimmers, which took a fancy to sweetcorn. Close behind was Andy Brookman who drew peg 10 opposite the island. Andy found a single chub and a couple of chunky F1s. In third place was Pete Watkins with a solitary carp.

Sunday 12th January 2025 – Winter League #3 – Margaret’s Lake
14 anglers faced a frozen lake today so ice-breaking was the first course of action before any fishing could be considered. A big thank you to Jason and the 2 Tonys for carrying out this essential work. Needless to say, the fishing was rock hard and as expected, no carp were caught. Kev Murch and Tony Welsby were both lucky enough to get among a few skimmers while the rest had to settle for small roach.
